Art and craftsmanship. Let’s visit Oltrarno

Your official guide of Florence Alessandra Gardin suggests an itinerary off the beaten tracks, in the area of the city called Oltrarno, which means on the other side of the river Arno.

We start visiting the very famous Brancacci Chapel in the Church of Carmine. The small chapel preserves one of the best examples of Early Renaissance art: the cycle of frescoes with Stories of Saint Peter by  Masaccio. Since ever these magnificent frescoes became a reference point for the other artists of Renaissance.

Our walk takes us inside a school of Jewellery, where we can admire items of incredible quality and see the phases of the creation of a jewel, according to the great tradition of the Florentine goldsmiths.
