I suggest a special visit in the fiorentine Oltrarno. Oltrarno (beyond the river Arno) is the district of Florence on the south bank of the river. Since ever is the area of the artisans workshops: goldsmiths, wood carvers, gilders, binders etc.. Among them there is an interesting laboratory where they have been restoring, grinding and carving crystal objects since the end of the XIX century. The laboratory even produces sets of glasses, interior decoration objects and collection items. They still work with ancient machines mixed with new techologies.
