After a five year restoration the frescoes in the main chapel of the Church of Santa Croce in Florence are visible again. It is the famous cicle of frescoes called The Legend of the discovery of the true Cross painted by Agnolo Gaddi, son of Taddeo, one of the best pupils of Giotto's. The restorators are sure that among the incredible amount of people who crowd the scenes on the walls of the chapel, there is even Giotto’s portrait. The frescoes were restored by the Opificio delle Pietre Dure of Florence (the most important Institute of restoration of the city) with the support of the Opera di Santa Croce. In May it will be possible to reserve a tour on the scaffoldings which will stand for some more months: information at www.santacroceopera.it
