Since January 14th the Museum of History of Phography Fratelli Alinari  in  S. Maria Novella square in Florence will house the exibition  Paris Capital of Photography 1920-1940.  More than 100 works “vintage prints” by photographers active in Paris between 1920 and 1940 will be shown, besides original documents of the time (books, magazines etc.) 

It is the first  exibit of this important historical period  when Paris was the centre of the artistic avant-guard  and became home city for very many photographers coming from all over Europe and overseas countries, having political and religious problems. The French photographers Florence Henri, Maurice Tabard, Roger Schall, Henri Cartier-Bresson. Emmanuel Sougez, Pierre Boucher lived close to the German Erwin Blumenfeld, Marianne Breslauer  and Ilse Bing, the Hungarian Andrè Kertész, Rogi André, Frnçois Kollar, Gisèle Freund and  Brassa , the Russian Hoyningen-Huene  and Rudomine, the Americans Man Ray and Berenice Abbott.
