After a ten year restoration the Porta della Mandorla, the most famous of the seven doors of the Cathedral of Florence, is visible again. The reastoration has also included a large part of the left hand side of the Duomo, about 700 square metres. The Porta della Mandorla (Almond door, because of the shape), a masterpiece of carved marble and marble in-lay, was made between 1391 and 1422 by several masters, among them Donatello and Nanni di Banco who made the relieve with the Madonna giving the belt to St. Thomas.
