On the occasion of the exhibition “ La bella Italia” at the Pitti Palace in Florence, the access to the Monumental Staircase of Poccianti was reopen to public. The architect Pasquale Poccianti made it in 1847 for the last Lorreine grandukes in order to reach directly their private apartments and the Sala da ballo (the Ballroom) at the second floor. The Staircase is considered one of the most important examples of XIX century architecture in Florence, with its elegant details and its renaissance armony.
The difficult and accurate restoration took a year and consisted of cleaning of the sand stone (pietra serena), renforcing the ramps and the mezzanins, restoring the wooden doors and the gilded iron railing.
Do not miss this great opportunity, do not miss the wonderful exhibition. Choose carefully your expert and official guide for a private tour!
